Connect with our local chapter:

Join us October 10TH - 20TH, 2021

Due to an abudance of caution, we have decided to turn our Miami Team Hope Walk/Run into a virtual event. This is in an effort to keep our community safe from COVID-19.

For this virtual event, runners/walkers can participate anywhere in the World and will run a 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2) course of their choosing between Sunday, October 10th and midnight on Wednesday, October 20th via the RaceJoy app. The run can be done anytime and anyplace. Walkers are welcome to walk 1 mile wherever they choose! All walkers who register at the $30 level will receive a 2021 HDSA Team Hope Walk Shirt.

The funds raised from this event will support our local South Florida Chapter and support the Huntington’s Disease community in Florida, our Centers of Excellence at the University of Florida in Gainesville, The Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, and The University of South Florida in Tampa.

Join us virtually throughout the week as we share pictures with your printable bib, videos and support from the community on our Facebook Page

Team Hope Walks aim to raise as much money possible in the local community to support the mission and services of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. There are many different fundraising strategies you may use to have a successful fundraising campaign, and HDSA suggests you use all of them! To download the Team Hope Walk Participant Packet and check out the Team Hope website’s Fundraising Tips & Tools (including some fundraising webinars!) and Participant Resources sections.

We invite all local companies and small businesses to sponsor this Team Hope Walk. We depend on the generosity of sponsors, and by sponsoring a walk your company will be supporting a great cause as well as engaging in an exciting marketing opportunity within the local community. If your company is interested in sponsoring the walk, please email

What is Huntington’s Disease?
Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities usually during their prime working years and has no cure. Every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene that causes the disease. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. Huntington’s disease is described as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously. HD is characterized by a triad of symptoms, including progressive motor dysfunction, behavioral disturbance and cognitive decline.
